Les Arts Decoratifs
From Paris Hotels Reviews
The westernmost wing of the Palais du Louvre, on the north side, houses a second, entirely separate museum called, simply, Les Arts Décoratifs, which could be translated as “the art of design” or, more prosaically, as “applied arts”. The entrance is at 107 rue de Rivoli (Tues-Fri 11am-6pm, Sat & Sun 10am-6pm; €8; www.lesartsdecoratifs.fr). The core of the collection is found in the newly revamped Musee des Arts Decoratifs, which occupies the western half of the building, to the right of the main entrance. The rather grand “nave” on the first floor – an original feature of the building, which dates from the 1870s – is used for temporary exhibitions. The smaller eastern side of the museum showcases fashion and advertising in the Musee de la Mode et du Textile and Musee de la Publicite.
