Musees de la Mode at de la Publicite

Musees de la Mode at de la Publicite
The eastern half of the museum, to the left of the main entrance, puts on exhibitions dedicated to fashion and advertising. These can be among the city's most innovative, as most shows are curated by industry professionals rather than state museum administrators. On the first and second floors, the Musee de la Mode et du Textile holds high-quality temporary exhibitions drawn from the large permanent collection aimed at demonstrating the most brilliant and cutting-edge of Paris fashions from all eras. Recent exhibitions have included restrospectives of Jean-Paul Gaultier's design for the ballet choreographer Régine Chopinot, and a personal “history of fashion” curated by Christian Lacroix. On the third floor, directly above the fashion museum, the Musee de la Publicite shows off its collection of advertising posters and video through cleverly themed, temporary exhibitions. The space is appropriately trendy – half-exposed brickwork and steel panelling, and half-crumbling Louvre finery – and you can access the archive at a dozen computers.
